Italian Jewelry and Watches: Collectible Glitz

Where would we be without our baubles, bangles and beads? People have always decorated themselves in one way or another from Egyptian earrings to Saxon torques. Things are not that much different today, we still love putting on the glitz with great jewelry and the pieces are basically still the same as those adorning men and women thousands of years ago - bracelets, necklaces, earrings, rings and brooches. There is one item that would surprise any ancient visitor though and that is the wristwatch. We've come a long way from a vertical stick in the sand. And if a Pharaoh were to try on a little something from our cool collection of Italian watches for men, I bet he wouldn't want to go back in that pyramid in a hurry!

Italy has a long history of jewelry making and gold working and produces over 70% of all the gold jewelry in europe, making it the world's leading gold crafting country. There are four top gold crafting cities: Arezzo in Tuscany is famed for its gold chains. Torre del Greco, Naples, is renowned for its wonderful coral jewlery and cameos. Then there's Vicenza in the Veneto, nicknamed "The Gold Town", which as well as being home to one of the world's most famous fairs the Vicenza International Gold Fair is a famous producer of high end Italian men's and women's jewelry. Finally there is Valenza in Piedmont, famed for its jewelry and home to one of Italy's most famous jewellers - Picchiotti.

As the world leader, Italy is a hard act to follow. Like all the other 'made-in-italy' products, Italian women's jewelry ( and Italian men's jewelry of course!) is created with passion and a desire for excellence. Italians are fastidious and demanding clients and so everything has to be of the very best quality: the best gold, the finest design, the greatest craftsmanship. All these are part and parcel of every piece you buy. If you have ever seen a handcrafted necklace or a designer ring from Italy then you will know yourself that is is unmistakeable.

Naturally every Italian fashion house has its own line in jewelry, whether its gold and diamonds, gorgeous costume jewelry or fabulous watches. Talking of which, you really should take a look at our specially selected Italian watches for men and women at the bottom of the page. From a Versace Destiny diamond watch to a Gucci Pantheon man's timepiece, you're bound to find something that ticks all the right boxes!
