- Another place for resting the feet after a lot of sightseeing and people-watching, the tables outside overlook the Royal Palace and the San Carlo opera house. This has always been a meeting place for Neopolitan intellecturals and writers. Pastries here are especially good.
Bars and Cafes in Capri
The main gathering place in Capri is the central piazza where everybody goes in the morning to buy the newspapers and have their coffee, then stop by for an aperitivo before lunch and dinner, and while away the after-dinner hours sipping on something cool and watching the pedestrian traffic. Both large cafes serve ice tea with a kind of lemon slush, refreshing during the hot summer months.
Another great place for people-watching in the late afternoon is the terrace in front of the Quisisana Hotel that commands a view of Capri's main shopping drag, in the shade protected from the hot sun. If you can afford it, this hotel with its lush tropical garden and large pristine swimming pool is an ideal place to stay
